Freestyle Action Roundup of the Month - September

With autumn officially in full force, the winds have been kind to freestylers all around Europe. Bringing back the monthly roundup, we will take a look at action from Brouwersdam, Dakhla, Northern Germany and plenty of Greek islands. Want to catch up on all what’s best in Freestyle? Let’s dive in straight away with Tim Gerdes (Severne), who went for a session at his homespot Brouwersdam and brought a cameraman along.

There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere on the water at the famous pool. The variety of conditions and the fact that the water is always buzzing with world class talent, makes it the perfect training ground.

A spot that also favours freestyle progression is Dakhla. Oda Johanne Brodholt (Starboard/Severne) travelled down there earlier this year and released a clip with some of her best action:

It’s clear that the Norwegian has developed a powerful style lately, and we cant wat to see more from her!

Dudu Levi (FutureFly/Gunsails) is also endlessly working on his style. The Israeli windsurfer was struggling with an injury throughout the summer, but finally made it back on the water at one of his favourite locations: Naxos.

The Greek islands have clearly been delivering. Meiky Wieczorek (Starboard/Severne) spent his summer in Karpathos and just released a clip with some of his post season action.

Meiky’s powerful style, combined with an impressively complete arsenal of tricks, makes him one of the most well rounded freestylers out there. Unfortunately there was no wind at his competitive debut in Vieste, however, the German rider is confirmed for the upcoming event in Naxos. What upsets will he cause? We can’t wait to see!

In the opposite corner of Greece, another freestyler has been diligently preparing for competition as well. George Grisley (Duotone) became the 2023 European Tow-In Champion, and was set to defend his title at the FPT Geneva in September. Before heading out to Switzerland he did a practice session at his homespot in Vasiliki:

Getting the Air Funnel Burners dialed in, he managed to make the final in Geneva where he showcased the move in front of the crowds at the Tropical Corner. In case you missed the action from Geneva, make sure to check out the final day highlights. And if you are thirsty for more, head over to the FPT Youtube channel for the full event playlist.

So far most of the clips in this roundup have been in warmer locations. Still, with autumn incoming, the temperatures will be dropping which means BULGENSLAG will be in his element again in Northern Germany. The filmmaker, known for his ONE MINUTE series, has been at it again with the 2023 FPT Stylemaster Foivos Tsoupras (Duotone/Maui Ultra Fins). Make sure to really soak this masterpiece in!

That’s it for September! Do you have a clip you think we missed, or are you releasing a video in October full of Freestyle goodness? Make sure to get in touch with us through our socials! See you next month!
