Freestyle Festa at Zushi Beach! - FPT x JWA Event Preview

Returning to the Freestyle Pro Tour calendar for a second time, the Japanese Windsurfing Association presents the 12th edition of the Freestyle Festa at Zushi Beach! Running on the 19th and 20th of April with a prize pool of the equivalent of 2500€ up for grabs, the event is set to feature competition in the Freestyle discipline. In the case of lower-wind conditions, a Tow-in contest will take place, with additional competition in a non-planing flowstyle category as well.

Multiple notable riders who have made waves on the international windsurfing scene are set to battle against a plethora of representatives of a very strong local scene, setting the stage for an intense battle at Japan’s most iconic and historic Freestyle spots that many of the riders participating call home.

Japanese youngster Takumi Moriya was on a charge at last year’s FPT season finale in Naxos, taking down Jacopo Testa before falling to Yentel Caers in the Semifinals.

Japanese riders known for their previous tour appearances on tour, such as last year’s Tow-In winner Takuma Sugi and Takumi Moriya (Who will be one to watch not just at this event, but at future tour stops as well!) are set to make an appearance at the event. Alongside them, emerging local youngsters such as Ryoma Sugi and Natsuki Wakasa will be battling for the crown at the first of two Japanese freestyle events on the tour calendar this year.

Check out the event highlights from the FPT’s last time out at Zushi Beach in 2023, and make sure to stay tuned for more news about event results as the weekend goes on, as well as more info on the next FPT tour stop – a return to Europe and the waters of Italy in Porto Pollo – all coming your way soon!
