Germany Kicks Off the FPT Tow-In World Series

Title Contenders Announced for the First-Ever FPT Indoor Tow-In World Series Event at boot Düsseldorf

The stage is set for a groundbreaking moment in windsurfing history as the Freestyle Pro Tour gears up for its first-ever Indoor Tow-In World Series event. Taking place at the iconic boot Düsseldorf, the world’s largest watersports trade fair, this event promises to deliver jaw-dropping action in one of the most unique events ever witnessed.

The competition will feature the world’s best athletes showcasing their skills in the highly technical yet powerful tow-in discipline. With adrenaline-fuelled tricks and precision moves, the title contenders are set to captivate the crowd and push the boundaries of what is possible .

Training Day Highlights
Ahead of the qualification day, competitors hit the water for a thrilling training session to get accustomed to the new setup and adapt to the unique challenges of this 65m pool. The day was filled with drama and excitement, featuring impressive highs and moments of brilliance. However, the line was thin, the divide small, between executing perfection and the cable leaving some with rejection.

2023 tow-in champion George Grisley stunned the audience with spectacular double moves and gave a glimpse at what to expect with a near triple combo. Seasoned champions – Lennart Neubauer and Yentel Caers showcased their incredible skills with powerful air funnel burners and burner 360’s, whilst 5x European Champion Steven Van Broeckhoven showed he was not here just to play. Meanwhile the next generation prodigy’s of Van Broeckhoven and Caers; Bodhi Kempen and Tigo Kort, offered perhaps the highest consistency of the day and with that the pressure raised, each mistake will clearly be costly here. Fairly fresh to the scene; Sokratis delivered impressive power moves, Stomp shone and Tsoupras styled his way to the spectators hearts.

Women’s Category
The name to beat continues to be Maaike Huvermann. She made it clear that winter was good to her as she stuck a hugely impressive burner, dispatching of any doubters to her continued dominance in the freestyle scene. Joining her, Elena Dominick, a rising star with promising potential to cause upsets in the not too distant future. Rounding up the womens fleets; Fournier and Schmied both gave it their all in today’s training session as they pushed their abilities to ‘acclimatise’ to this unique setup. Blood, sweat and tears displayed raw passion, grit and determination.
