The EFE 2015 - Day 2

Just as expected we started off day two at the European Freestyle Expression with beautiful calm weather – the perfect conditions for a tow-in competition to impress the big audience at the beach of Six Fours les Plages.

14 riders signed up to stomp some big maneuvres at Brutal Beach and give everyone an idea what’s possible in freestyle windsurfing nowadays. Every rider got two runs: one straight after the other with the better one counting. Afterwards the ranking was announced and everyone got another chance to go big and improve their result.

Adam Sims from the UK

With a high number of tow-in experts like Julien Mas (JP), Yentel Caers (JP/Neilpryde), Amado Vrieswijk (Severne/JP) and Adam Sims (Sailloft/Patrik) entering, a great show was guaranteed from the start. Already in the first round it became obvious which riders would be contenders for the podium. Yentel Caers, Amado Vrieswijk and Adrien Bosson threw themselves into air-funnell burner combinations, whilst Hugo de Sousa (RRD/RRD), Dmitry Tertyshnyy (RRD) and Riccardo Marca (North/Fanatic) were going through air-funnell funnells. After a very unlucky first run, Vladimir Yakovlev (JP/Neilpryde) from Russia landed a perfect burner one handed in front of the judges. Adam Sims (Patrik/Sailloft) who is currently leading the EFPT tow-in overall ranking for 2015 had two very hard crashes going for a spock-culo. Even in his third attempt the tow-in expert couldn’t improve his scoring the way he wanted, which led to a rather disappointing result for him this time.

Local rider Adrien Bosson landed a perfect air-funnell burner straight into the beach and in front of the cheering audience which scored him the highest points. Even in their third round none of the sailors could match the Frenchies score. Amado Vrieswijk made second place with a nice air-funnell burner and Antoine Albert from New Caledonia could land a nice skopu-diablo which put him into third place.

With an amazing forecast for tomorrow everybody will have an early night tomorrow and hope for a great freestyle competition on Saturday and Sunday.
